Costa Rica has long been known for its fabulous wood products, and rightfully so. These pieces are carved from a variety of native hardwoods, and combined so artfully you'd swear they grew that way. We have a number of artisans in Costa Rica creating these wonderful pieces for us, all of whom learned their craft at their father's or grandfather's knee. And here's a happy note - it's a law in Costa Rica that, when a hardwood tree is felled, ten of the same tree must be planted in its place. So the forests are continually renewed, the artisans are gainfully employed, and we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor! It's a win-win!!

Pattern Trivets

Available in either a combination of woods or solid rosewood, the trivets are gorgeous on your table under a hot dish or a vase of fresh flowers. When you're not using it, simply fold up and store in a drawer. They're beautiful, functional, and they get out of your way when you don't need them. What more could you ask? $18.00 each.

Design Trivets

These trivets combine a work ethic with extreme beauty. The designs are created by a mosaic of wood pieces, carved and arranged to reflect every-day sights in this beautiful country, from parrots to Tico houses. The multi-layered design is embedded in a protective coating which allows them to be used as you would any trivet, but if you display them they become simply a small work of art. Pretty clever, huh?

Serving Trays

Is it a serving tray? A cutting board? A work of art? Yes, yes and yes.
Measuring 12 1/2 x 8 1/2, these trays will serve cheese, fruit, and bread with a flourish. Turn it over, and you have a functional cutting board. Display it in your kitchen or dining area and you have a unique decorating element. They're created the same way the Design Trivets are, and are hand-washable (no dishwasher, please). What a thoughtful gift, especially for the person who has everything (and we all have at least one of those on our list, don't we!?)
