To those of you we've met in our store - welcome back! To all of our virtual visitors we say "welcome to Tropical Memories, make yourself at home, and enjoy browsing". We're constantly finding new artists and their products, so keep checking back with us - you never know what you'll find. A word about our art and handicrafts - many, if not most, of our offerings are made from either recycled materials or renewable resources. We think this is important for our planet and it adds to the unique properties of each item. When we ship to you all of our packaging products are recycled one way or the other, and we hope you'll continue the process. Not to be tree-huggers, but every little bit helps. If you've been in our store you know we've always talked your ears off and told you far more than you ever wanted to know about all of our goodies, so shopping on line with us should be a bit more peaceful. If you'd like something you saw in the store and it's not here, send us a message - chances are we have it, it's just not yet here. Putting up a web site is lots of work! As always, we very much appreciate your business and will do all we can to ensure your satisfaction while shopping with us. A note from Dad and Jeannie: We are semi-retiring.....we'll still do the fun part, finding and buying the wonderful art, and will be available to help Chelle in the store when she needs us. We left Sarasota Aug, 2009 for a four-month buying trip to South America, mostly Ecuador and Peru, and will be sending lots of old favorites and brand-new items to Chelle. We've also added a Travel Blog Link to the menu on the left to keep you updated on our travels and what we're finding, the people we're meeting, and (of major importance), what we're eating, so you can join us as we go. Travel, even the armchair variety, is good for the soul. We hope you'll all come in and welcome Chelle to Tropical Memories and Sarasota. You may also have an opportunity to meet Stefano, who loves to help out in the store and who is turning into a carbon copy of his grandfather (at least he'll have new stories to tell!). History of Tropical Memories: Our first Tropical Memories was on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, in a lovely little blue Caribbean cottage in Fredriksted. We soon added a second store on St. Thomas in the Royal Dane Mall in Charlotte Amalie. Everything we sold in those stores was made in the Caribbean. When we moved to Sarasota, FL in 2002, we began adding new artists from Central and South America as well as Florida, so now we have the best of two continents and a bunch of islands! The summer of 2009 our daughter, Michelle Moreno aka Chelle and her family (husband Gilberto, son Stefano and daughter Alondra, and 2 charming kitties) joined us to take over the day-to-day operations of Tropical Memories, and it will most often be her smiling face you see when you visit. Yes, she loves to talk with visitors as much as we do, so the only change will be that she's younger and cuter. By the way... At Tropical Memories, we're committed to protecting your privacy.
